Is vitamin C powder and dandruff shampoo a safe hair color remover?

I've seen a few videos of people removing dye (not virgin hair) from their hair using vitamin C powder and dandruff shampoo. Is that safe? How will it affect your hair in the long run or if you want to bleach your hair?

Any type of color removing method will damage the hair. As far as vitamin c and dandruff (or clarifying) shampoo the main issue is that it probably won't do anything. I have a feeling this method only helps with semi permanent dyes. If you don't see a difference within 15 min just wash it out. There's no point in letting it sit in your hair damaging it when it's doing nothing. Just because something is acidic doesn't mean it won't damage your hair. If vitamin C was a good color remover that caused little to no damage it would already be salons.

I'm gonna do a test strand. I dunno how my hair will turn out since it's originally black, has gone through box dye, semi permanent dye, bleaching, and more semi permanent dye.

I'm hoping it'll lighten up in general so it's quicker for me to reach platinum through professional bleaching.

I've used dandruff shampoo and dish washing soap to fade semi-permanent dyes from my already bleached hair, and it works after several sessions and depending on the color. Works well for pinks and purples but blue does not budge as easily. It did dry out my hair a loooot so I would always condition after.

I have only done it with vitamin c powder and clarifying shampoo but it's probably the same effect. it's not damaging but suuuuper drying and you'll need to do a lot of conditioning after. It works really well for fading semi permanent dyes. After one or two uses on semis or demis it is possible for the dye to be removed enough that you can tone or dye it a new color. and it has also worked for me on permanent dyes but only if you do it right after the dye like within the same day. For permanent dyes it is more like a quick fix if you realize right away it turned out too dark after dyeing, it will lift the color a few shades but you won't be able to completely remove it.
